Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method and device wherein plutonium and/or other radioactive element present in solid or a liquid product is, by microwave heating, dissolved in an aqueous solution, and, a solid or liquid product contaminated with them is processed.
CONSTITUTION: A solid or liquid product containing a radioactive element is introduced in a vessel 7 containing an acid solution held, while free adjustment is allowed, in a chamber 5 of a conductive material in a closed enclosure 1 of a microwave heating device for a radioactive product. Heating of a product is performed by a microwave supplied from a microwave generator 9 which is outside the enclosure 1, through a wave guide 11 or an coaxial cable, to the chamber 5.
