Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a silyl ether, alcohols or amines with which the production can be carried out at room temperature by a reducing reaction using a silane.
SOLUTION: The method for producing the silyl ether represented by general formula (III) from a carboxylic acid represented by general formula (II) is carried out as follows. An active catalyst is prepared by using a polynuclear ruthenium carbonyl complex in which 2-4 ruthenium atoms are coordinated with carbonyl groups as a catalyst and then preactivating the catalyst with the silane represented by general formula (I) and holding at least one hydrogen atom. The silyl ether is produced by using the silane as the reducing agent. The method for producing the primary alcohol represented by general formula (IV) comprises hydrolyzing the resultant silyl ether. The method for producing the amine represented by general formula (VI) from an amide represented by general formula (V) comprises using the silane represented by general formula (I) as the reducing agent in the presence of the polynuclear ruthenium carbonyl catalyst.
