Abstract:
To provide a method for producing an alkylphenol under industrially readily performable reactional conditions in high yield.
The method for producing the alkylphenol represented by formula 2 (wherein, R1 denotes a 1-12C alkyl group or a cycloalkyl group; and R2 denotes hydrogen atom or a 1-4C alkyl group) comprises reacting a substituted hydroxyphenyl ketone with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenolysis catalyst such as nickel, cobalt or copper in a liquid phase.
