To provide a joining method where the quality of the joints in a component obtained by lapping aluminum alloy members so as to be joined is not reduced.
Prior to the joining of aluminum alloy sheets 1 and 2, the aluminum alloy sheets 1 and 2 are subjected to chemical coating treatment or anodized oxidation coating treatment. Then, the aluminum alloy sheets 1 and 2 subjected to the coating treatment are lapped as shown in the figure. Thereafter, the suitable sections between the adjoining bent parts 2a (friction stir joining sections A to D in the figure) are subjected to friction stir joining to join the aluminum alloy sheets 1 and 2, thus the aluminum alloy product in which the aluminum alloy sheets 1 and 2 are integrated is obtained. After the friction stir joining, the sides pressed by a tool for friction stir joining (not shown in the figure) are subjected to chemical coating treatment by a coating method, thus the finished product of the aluminum alloy product in which the aluminum alloy sheets 1 and 2 are integrated is obtained.
