Abstract:
To suppress cracks and chips generated in a ceramic ball upon polishing and to suppress the adhesion of contamination such as metal pieces to the ceramic ball.SOLUTION: A method for producing a ceramic ball comprises: a press step where raw material powder essentially consisting of ceramic is press-worked to obtain a spherical pre-molded body; a polishing step where the pre-molded body is polished; and a firing step where the pre-molded body polished in the polishing step is fired. In the polishing step, the pre-molded body is charged on a polishing plate of a bottomed cylindrical polishing device with the rotatable polishing plate as the bottom, the polishing plate is rotated and the pre-molded body is rolled on the polishing plate so as to be polished, and a polishing face of the polishing plate is made of ceramic.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
