A method for producing a polymeric compound includes: reacting, in the presence of a catalyst, a compound having a heterocyclic five-membered ring or condensed ring containing a heterocyclic five-membered ring represented by formula (100) with a nitrogen-containing polycyclic ring-containing compound represented by formula (2). In formula (100), Ar1 is a divalent group with a heterocyclic five-membered ring or condensed ring containing the same; and H is a hydrogen atom. In formula (2), Ar2 is a divalent group obtained by eliminating two hydrogen atoms from the nitrogen-containing polycyclic ring-containing compound; and X is Cl, Br or I.
