Abstract:
To provide a new method for producing optically active benzhydrols useful as a synthetic intermediate for physiologically active compounds such as medicines and agrochemicals and a synthetic raw material in fine chemicals, etc., particularly a method for producing optically active benzhydrols by asymmetric reduction reaction utilizing a hydride reagent such as boron hydride metal compound.
This method for producing optically active benzhydrols comprises a step for reacting asymmetric benzophenones with a boron hydride metal compound in the presence of an optically active metal complex catalyst and an alcohol compound.
