Abstract:

To provide a method for producing an optically active carboxylic acid ester derivative and a tertiary alcohol by epimerizing an optically active tertiary alcohol derivative useful as an intermediate or compound for pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, perfumes, etc.

The optically active carboxylic acid derivative is produced by converting an optically active tertiary alcohol to an alkoxyphosphine derivative and reacting the product with a carboxylic acid in the presence of a quinone compound. The optically active tertiary alcohol is produced by hydrolyzing the produced carboxylic acid ester derivative.
