Abstract:

To provide a method for simply producing high-purity pentabromothiophenol in a high yield.

The method for producing pentabromothiophenol comprises reacting hexabromobenzene with an alkali hydrosulfide in a aprotic polar solvent at ≤50°C. The method for producing pentabromothiophenol comprises, preferably, adding an alkali hydrosulfide to a mixture of hexabromobenzene with the aprotic polar solvent and reacting hexabromobenzene with the alkali hydrosulfide. According to the production method, the pentabromothiophenol can simply be produced in high yield and high purity.
