To provide a method for producing a phosphite compound represented by formula (I), while inhibiting the scattering of dust, the lowering of yield, and the like.
This method for producing the phosphite compound comprises the following processes. The first process for reacting a compound of formula (II) with a compound of formula (III): A-OH to obtain the compound of formula (IV). The second process for subjecting a compound of formula (V) to an oxidizing coupling reaction to obtain the reaction mixture containing a compound of formula (VI). The third process for reacting the solution obtained by extracting the compound of formula (VI) from the reaction mixture with a hydrophobic organic solvent with the compound of formula (IV) in the presence of a phosphorus trihalide and a hydrogen halide-removing agent.
