Abstract:

To provide a method for efficiently producing propargyl alcohol without isolating an intermediate from 1,2,3-trichloropropane.

This method for producing propargyl alcohol comprises reacting 1,2,3-trichloropropane with an alkali compound in the amount of the latter being at least 3 equivalents to that of the former or an aqueous solution of the alkali compound at 20°C to 200°C under pressure.
