Abstract:
To provide a method capable of safely and efficiently collecting valuable metals from a raw material including a waste lithium ion battery, etc.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing valuable metals from a raw material including valuable metals containing Cu, Ni and Co comprises: a preparation step of preparing a raw material containing at least Li, Al and valuable metals; a reduction melting step of subjecting the raw material to reduction melting by using a melting furnace provided with cooling means for cooling a furnace wall from the outside to obtain a reduced material containing an alloy containing valuable metals and slag; and a slag separation step of separating the slag from the reduced material to collect the alloy. In one or both of the preparation step and the reduction melting step, a Ca-containing flux is added to the raw material, and in the reduction melting step, while cooling the furnace wall of the melting furnace by the cooling means, a solidified layer of slag having a Ca/Al value smaller than the Ca/Al value of slag or a solidified layer of slag containing 15 mass% or more of Al and 3 mass% or more of Li is formed on the surface in the melting furnace.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
