To provide a simple method of producing a novel vinyl ether-based ABA-type triblock copolymer comprising a polyvinyl ether-based polymer and a polyoxystyrene-based polymer.

The method of producing the vinyl ether-based ABA-type triblock copolymer is for obtaining an ABA-type triblock copolymer in which a polyvinyl ether-based polymer is a center block by adding a mixture of an oxystyrene-based monomer and a vinyl ether-based monomer to a difunctional polymerization initiator, a Lewis acid and a solvent and by subjecting the resultant mixture to a living cation polymerization under such a condition that the reaction rate constant ratio between the reaction rate constant kOSof the oxystyrene-based monomer and the reaction rate constant kVEof the vinyl ether-based monomer becomes kVE/kOS≥1,650. By this method, a vinyl ether-based ABA-type triblock copolymer can be simply and efficiently produced.
