Abstract:
To provide a method of distillation for an alicyclic alcohol simply and economically separating impurities containing an aldehyde group, and suppressing formation of impurities causing increase of heat load in distillation.
The method comprises the distillation of the alicyclic alcohol in the presence of 1-500 ppm of an acidic reactive compound such as p-toluene sulfonic acid, naphthalene sulfonic acid, sulfanilic acid, camphor sulfonic acid, potassium hydrogensulfide, potassium hydrogensulfate, sodium dihydrogenphosphate, tetrabutylammonium hydrogensulfate, 9- anthracenecarboxylic acid, phosphorus pentoxide.
