The invention relates to the method for purification of the silicone resin comprising treatment of the silicone resin containing alkali metal ions such as sodium ion, potassium ion, cesium ion, etc., as the impurities of the silicone resin, etc., obtained by an equilibrium reaction using alkali metal catalyst. The treatment comprises contact of the silicone resin with a solid basic absorbent such as powders of aluminum silicate, powders of silic acid, powders of magnesium silicate, etc.
