PURPOSE: To obtain the method which can employ shape data on a design mock for CAD in a form extremely close to operation for cutting the mock of a designer by generating a curved surface forming the surface of a body on the basis of guide curves and subcurves.
CONSTITUTION: The surface shape of a solid model (design mock) as a manually worked body that the designer makes is measured by a known three-dimensional shape measuring instrument such as a digitizer to generate point group data on measurement points (S1). The point group data of the measured surface shape, etc., are inputted to a CAD device (S2). In the CAD device, section (normal plane) corresponding to the guide curves as a skeleton is generated and strings are generated from the point group data (S3). Then the intersections of the normal plane and strings are calculated and surface curves with which a target solid model is reconstituted are generated on the basis of the intersections (S4). A curved surface is generated lastly with the obtained surface curves to constitute the surface shape of the model on the CAD.
