Abstract:

To provide a method for efficiently recovering a refined ester monomer from dyed fibrous polyester wastes through ameliorating the problems involved in conventional methods for chemically recycling such fibrous wastes.

The method comprises (1) a step of contacting a colored fibrous polyester with ethylene glycol to extract a color component in the fibrous polyester to obtain a fibrous polyester ≥60 in color L-value, (2) a step of separating the resultant fibrous polyester from its mixture with the ethylene glycol, (3) a step of depolymerizing the ester component constituting the fibrous polyester with a glycol to obtain a glycol solution containing an ester monomer, and (4) a step of obtaining the objective refined ester monomer by refining the glycol solution.
