The display device includes a display section 4 having a display area in which plural display units 5 are arranged, a layout information storing section 3 which stores the layout information that displays specified display data in the display area in the cases where at least each display unit 5 is not used in the arranged display units 5, an abnormality announcing section 6 which announces the abnormality of the display unit 5, a layout information selecting section 2, and an edition section 1. When an announcement of abnormality in the display unit 5 is sent from the abnormality announcing section 6, the layout information selecting section 2 selects the layout information which does not use the announced display unit 5 from the information storing section 3 and the edition section 1 edits the display screen of the display data based on the selected layout information and displays it on the display section 4.
