Abstract:
To recover in a natural way from a communication failure between a robot and a human being.SOLUTION: A method for recovering from a failure in an interaction includes: failure detection steps 600, 602 which detect, by a computer, a failure of a communication between a robot and an interaction partner; and a step 604 which controls, by the computer, in response to the failure detected by the failure detection steps 600, 602, the robot to interact with the interaction partner with expression of feeling, to recover from the failure using information obtained in the interaction. The failure detection step may include an overlap detection step of detecting, by the computer, as a failure, temporal overlap of speeches of the robot and the interaction partner.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
