To provide a method for recovering an organic solvent from a washing liquid, by which problems on the operation due to clogging on the discharge of a liquid and due to the incapability in the boiling of a distiller can be prevented in a process for distilling and recovering the organic solvent from the washing liquid obtained by washing potassium chloride by-produced in a process for producing 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol and its ester with a water- containing organic solvent.
This method for distilling and recovering the organic solvent, comprising washing the by-produced potassium chloride with an organic solvent and then distilling and recovering the organic solvent from the washing liquid in a process for reacting 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-chloroethane with an organic carboxylic acid potassium salt in the presence of an aprotic polar solvent to produce the 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol and/or the organic acid 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl ester, characterized by allowing the presence of a surfactant in the distiller liquid.
