Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for collecting valuables, including metal from used lithium ion secondary batteries without exercising an adverse effect on an environment.SOLUTION: The method comprises steps of: removing anion parts of an electrolyte by performing a discharge operation on used lithium ion secondary batteries at a potential which is equal to or lower than an oxidation potential of the electrolyte and lower than an oxidation potential of solvent of an electrolyte solution of the batteries; and thereafter collecting valuables from used lithium ion secondary batteries.
