To provide a method for refining 2-phenyl-1-propanol capable of obtaining 2-phenyl-1-propanol of high purity having an excellent aroma for a perfume by efficiently and selectively separating and removing an offensive smell component from crude 2-phenyl-1-propanol only by a simple operation without requiring a complicated apparatus or operation.

The method for refining crude 2-phenyl-1-propanol includes an alkali washing process, an extraction and distillation process for washing crude 2-phenyl-1-propanol and a process for extraction-treating and distilling 2-phenyl-1-propanol with an alkali aqueous solution to obtain refined 2-phenyl-1- propanol.
