Abstract:

To efficiently remove metal stuck to a furnace opening hole in a converter type refining furnace while restraining the erosion of refractory on the furnace opening hole by blowing oxygen at the time of non-refining.

A lance 4 for melting the stuck metal is inserted in the furnace and the oxygen 14 is jetted while controlling so that the lowermost end in the perpendicular direction of the jetting locus of the oxygen does not reach the surface 4a of the metal 2 stuck to the furnace opening hole 1. The jetting direction of the oxygen 14 is defined as 40-90° angle to the longitudinal direction axial line 6 of the lance 4 and is directed downward or in a horizontal direction.
