PURPOSE: To save energy in the stage of projecting shot balls to the billet and removing a surface flaw by drying the shot balls after projection by the heat retained in the billet.
CONSTITUTION: The shot balls 3 projected from a shot ball projector 1 toward a billet 2 are circulated and supplied into a hopper 4 through a connection pipe 12 from the projector 1 by the heated air from a heat exchanger 8. The balls 3 moistened by the cooling water, etc. of the billet 2 in the stage of being projected to the billet 2 are thoroughly dried while the balls are transferred to the hopper 4 by the high temp. air, through the connection pipe 12. On the other hand, the air fed through the pipe 12 into the hopper 4 is fed from the hopper 4 to a dust collector 5, where the dust in the air is removed and the air is then dehumidified in a dehumidifier 6. The dehumidified air enters a blower 7. The air from the blower 7 is fed to the heat exchanger 8 and after the air is heated therein, the air is fed again to the pipe 12.
