Abstract:
Method of removing transition metals from a decontamination solution containing a complexing agent having an equilibrium constant for the ferric ion complex formation reaction of greater than 10<2><2>, such as ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid. An anion exchange resin is loaded with the complexing agent or one of its salts, and the solution is passed through the anion exchange resin. The method is applied to decontamination solutions which are used to clean cooling systems of nuclear reactors.
