Abstract:
PURPOSE: To eliminate an extreme increase of an outer diameter of a repaired area, as compared with an outer diameter of other areas of a cable by making flexibility of the area close to that of other areas of the cable.
CONSTITUTION: A metal tape 17 removes a defective area of a cable, together with the corresponding part of a jacket layer 19 from an electrically insulating layer 16, and then protruding parts of the tape from an end of the jacket layer are retained at both ends of an exposed part of the layer 16. The protruding part is extended in a funnel state, an assembly of a repairing plastic tube and metal collars 34a, 34b is conformed to a periphery of the exposed part of the layer 16, one end is inserted between the funnel-like protruding part of the tape and the layer 16, and welded to the protruding part. Further, repairing metal tape 40 is conformed thereonto and welded to the metal collars of the assembly and the protruding part of the metal tape of the cable.
