PURPOSE: To effectively roughen the surface of a wire rod by pushing floats against the wire rod at the center of revolution by using buoyancy arising in attracting magnetic fluid with magnetic force and revolving the floats around the wire rod in the state that grinding grains are put in between the float and the wire rod.
CONSTITUTION: A sectionally-circular steel wire rod 1 fixed at the center of revolution of a roughen part 2 with a supporting stand so that the end of the wire rod 1 is machined by the roughening part 2. The roughening part 2 is fixed to the center of a turn table with a fixture, and magnetic fluid mixed with grinding grains is supplied from a nozzle in between the steel wire rod 1 being machined and the roughening part 2. The roughening part 2 houses floats 13, 16, magnets 17-20 and liquid 23-26 containing magnetic fluid mixed with grinding grains in the sections of a cylinder 8 partitioned with sector form spacers 9-12, to push the floats 13-16 and the grinding grains against the steel wire rod by using buoyancy arising in attracting the magnetic fluid with magnetic force and to grant unevenness to the surface of the steel wire rod 1 by revolving the floats 13-16.
