Title:
METHOD FOR SEPARATING BISMUTH FROM PLATINUM GROUP ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3959990
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for extracting and separating bismuth from a platinum group element in a high yield, in which the complete separation has been conventionally difficult, through selectively extracting only bismuth without extracting a platinum group element together, with the use of an extractant which can be industrially usable in a large quantity domestically.
SOLUTION: The method for selectively extracting bismuth into an organic phase is performed by continuing mixing a solution containing a compound of the platinum group element and a soluble or hardly soluble bismuth compound in a dissolved or suspended state, with a strong acid extractant, while controlling pH to 3 or higher, for more than 20 minutes. The above mixing is continued preferably until the time when the bismuth compound, which has precipitated in a process of controlling pH to 3 or higher, dissolves completely. The strong acid extractant is preferably O, O'-bis(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid, and the pH is controlled preferably with addition of sodium hydrogen carbonate.
