PURPOSE: To facilitate the moving and setting of a mold and to save labor in casting by supporting a mold in suspension state by the mechanical hand of a transfer robot and correcting the position of the lower part extension part of a mold just above the vertical hole of a supporting base by a guide finger.

CONSTITUTION: The upper extension part 40b of a mold 40 is pinched with sufficient play by a pair of the claws 67a, 67b of a robot and when suspended a diameter bulging part 40c becomes a loose stopper and can be supported in suspension state. Now the mold 40 is suspended on the supporting base 20 inside a furnace by opening a charging port 23. The cylinders 74 and 76 of a guide device 70 are shrunk to approach an arm 71 into the furnace from a side hole 30. A cylinder 89 is then actuated, a lever 88 is pushed, both guide fingers 82a, 82b are closed and the lower extension part 40d of the mold 40 is pinched by both guide fingers 82a, 82b to oppose the lower extension part 40d just above the vertical hole of the supporting base 20. The interposition of the lower extension part 40d is thereafter released to descend the claws 67a, 67b and supported by inserting it into the vertical hole of the supporting base 20.
