To provide a method of setting up a machine tool capable of shortening setup time and optimizing machining conditions.
The method of setting up the machine tool includes a step S2 of determining machining procedures, a step S3 of selecting a tool, a step S4 of simulating an interference check based on the selected machining procedures and tool, a step S7 of carrying out automatic test machining when the simulation is OK in a step S6, a step S8 of checking accuracy of the automatic test machining, a step S9 of determining completion of the setup to return to the step of determining the machining procedures when accuracy check results are not determined to be OK, and a step S10 of completing the setup when the determination in the setup completion determination step S9 is OK.
