Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simulate an abrasion characteristic of a tire.
SOLUTION: A tire to be evaluated is approximated by a tire finite element model 2 obtained by dividing the tire to a finite count of many elements 2a, 2b,..., and performance of the tire is simulated from the model with the use of a finite element method in this simulation method. The method includes a run simulation process whereby a behavior of the tire finite element model 2 mounted to a virtual rim and relatively moved in touch with a virtual road face is simulated and, an information process whereby an abrasion characteristic of the tire finite element model 2 is obtained from the run simulation process.
