Abstract:
To provide a method for starting a casting which can stably produce a continuously cast slab excellent in the quality by preventing the development of magnesium vapor in an immersion nozzle.
When the casting is started after setting a dummy bar 2a into a mold 1, the immersion nozzle 3a where one spouting hole is arranged at a lower part so that the spouted stream is formed in a vertical direction and the spouting hole of the immersion nozzle is plugged at the upper end part of the dummy bar, and after filling this inner part of the immersion nozzle with the molten magnesium alloy, the casting is started.
