To restore a jam state of a financial document processing system for image utilization which is used for transaction item processing by deciding which system work it is when what does not end to an individual transaction item exits.
Jam state occurrence is notified to an operator and it is decided which item along a carrier track has to be restored. An item coincidence list is produced and is stored in a 1st memory unit 31. The MICR code line, sequence number, image data and pocket number of each item is shown from the item coincidence list on a display screen of a monitor 44. The operator performs search confirmation of all of items that need jam restoration. The results are saved in a 2nd memory unit 32. The results include all output works that are executed in each item along the carrier track and output works that further need execution. If an item needing restoration remains in the carrier track, its position is shown on the monitor 44.
