Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method and a system capable of grasping the condition of a curve of a curved road to control a speed of a vehicle based thereon.
SOLUTION: These method and system for controlling a speed of the vehicle are constituted such that a curve radius of the curved road and a distance up to the curve are received from a road information providing device providing road information, proper speed in the curve is calculated to judge whether current vehicle speed exceeds the proper speed or not, curve arrival time until the vehicle arrives the curve when it runs at current speed and forced deceleration time required for decelerating current speed down to the proper speed are calculated if the current vehicle speed exceeds the proper speeds then whether or not the current vehicle speed is decelerated below the proper speed when the curve arrival time becomes the forced deceleration time is judged, and the vehicle is forcedly decelerated down to the proper speed by the set deceleration if the current vehicle speed is not decelerated below the proper speed.
