Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily execute retrieving operation by visually specifying a retrieving range of a data base.

CONSTITUTION: The items of data stored in the data base 206 are displayed on a display device 201. The distribution status of data of the items stored in the data base 206 is graphically displayed on the display device 201 based upon statistical information relating to a selected item corresponding to the selective input of an item to be retrieved in the displayed items. An instruction for accessing the data base 206 is formed and executed in response to the specification of a retrieving range on the displayed graphic, so that data corresponding to the specification of the retrieving range can be retrieved.
