To provide a method for testing optical fiber cords so as to evaluate by quantifying a flexure of the optical fiber cords.
The optical fiber cord 1 is wound to a mandrel 2. After secured for a predetermined time, the optical fiber cord 1 is released from the mandrel 2. Then, a radius of curvature R1 as the flexure of the optical fiber cord 1 is measured. How easily the optical fiber cord 1 tends to bend is quantified from the measured value. The optical fiber cord 1 is left for a predetermined time after released from the mandrel 2, and then a radius of curvature R2 of the flexure of the optical fiber cord 1 is measured. A value expressed by an expression (R2-R1)/R1 is calculated, which can be made an index of how easily the optical fiber cord loses the flexure. The optical fiber cord 1 is preferably heated in a thermostatic bath 4 when wound to the mandrel 2 and secured for the predetermined time.
