PURPOSE: To make it possible to reproduce one or both of two types of image signal by transmitting one of two types of image signal, as it is, to an image recording/reproducing unit while transmitting the other image signal through a delay unit to the image signal recording/reproducing unit.
CONSTITUTION: An image signal A inputted to an image signal I/O terminal 5 is transmitted through the recording sides of changeover switches 8, 9 to an image recording/reproducing circuit 12. Output signals from the circuit 12 are recorded onto a magnetic tape by means of image signal recording/ reproducing heads 1, 2. An image signal B inputted to a terminal 6 is transmitted on the recording side of a switch 10, delayed 7 by an amount corresponding with the phase difference of the heads 1, 2 and 3, 4, and then recorded on the magnetic tape. At the time of reproduction, signal A is inputted to the circuit 12 and transmitted on the reproduction side of the switch 9 to an image signal delay circuit 7 where it is delayed by an amount corresponding with the phase difference of the heads 1, 2 and 3, 4. On the other hand, signal B is reproduced 6 with no delay. Consequently, signals A and B are reproduced with same phase as each other.
