Title:
MICROORGANISM FOR PRODUCING GLYCOSIDE HYDROLASE CONTROL FACTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62143683
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
The use of microorganisms of the family Bacillaceae to make glucoside-hydrolase inhibitors (I) is new. Pref. species are Bacillus subtilis, B. subtilis var. niger, B. amyloliquefaciens, B. coagulans, B. longisporus and B. polymyxa, specifically the strains DSM 292, 356, 36, 740, 741, 1, 479, 365, 742, 7, 372, 675, 704, 1060, 1061, 1062, 1063, 1064, 1065, 1066 and 1067. The strains DSM 7, 704, 675 and 372 are used to produce 1-deoxynojirimycin. DSM 704, 740, 741, and 742 are claimed as new strains. (I) inhibit saccharase more effectively than known inhibitors; that from DSM 479 also inhibits amylase. When administered to animals they prevent undesirable accumulation of fat, improve feed utilisation and increase the proportion of lean meat. They are also useful in human medicine for treating obesity, hyperglycaemia, constipation etc.
