PURPOSE: To suppress the clogging of a polishing member and improve a finished surface by keeping the flow-rate of working liquid, surface area of a tool, and the pressing pressure of the tool into a specific relation by using a water-passing polishing material and the working liquid which has a specific surface tension and has the surface-oxidation suppressing performance for Al material.
CONSTITUTION: The abrasive having a surface tension of 60dyn/cm or less and has the water-passing performance for the working liquid having surface-oxidation suppressing function for Al material is used, and the relation between the flow-rate of the working liquid Ql/min, surface area Scm2 of a tool, and the pressing force Pkg.f/cm2 of the tool is set into Q/S.P>0.01l/min.kg.f. The working liquid 4 is supplied onto a workpiece 8 from a feeding passage 3 through an effluence port 6 and a polishing member 7, and a tool 1 in revolution is pressed onto the workpiece and shifted. When the workpiece 8 is friction-ground by the grinding grains 9 fixed onto the polishing member 7, working scraps 10 are transferred in the polishing member 7 and discharged by the working liquid 4. When a sufficient flow-rate Q is provided together with the pressing force P and the surface area S of the tool, the working scraps are smoothly discharged without being piled, and stable friction operation of the grinding grains can be maintained, and the surface roughness can be kept constant.
