A reception section 102 receives the remote control data from the object equipment through an infrared communication system etc., and a control section 104 stores the remote control data in a storage section 106. The received remote control data includes description information showing remote control operations. A display section 107 displays character information and image information. An output selection section 115 makes a choice of whether audio information is reproduced. A reproduction section 113 reproduces the audio information. A transmission section 103 transmits remote control operation instructions to the object equipment by the infrared communication system etc., based upon remote control data that a user specifies at an operation section 105.
