Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition excellent in adhesivity to aggregates and aggregate-gripping force, and also high in compatibility of the asphalt with the modifier used and thermal stability.
SOLUTION: This modified asphalt composition is obtained by blending (A) 100 pts.wt. of a straight asphalt >40 but ≤60 in penetration with (B) 5-10 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic elastomer, (C) 1-10 pts.wt. of an extract of the lubricating oil fraction in petroleum, and (D) 2-15 pts.wt. of a solid hydrocarbon resin 50-120°C in softening point produced by cationic polymerization of a monomer mixture composed of 25-70wt.% of isoprene, 25-70wt.% of an aromatic monolefin and 5-40wt.% of an aliphatic monolefin in the presence of an aluminum halide- based catalyst.
