PURPOSE: To prevent erosion of a mold by supporting the mold by means of mold supporting members having guide sliding members and disposing a driving device for vertically moving the mold supporting members.
CONSTITUTION: The mold supporting members 20 are provided and the mold 10 is mounted to the upper part thereof. Gripping part supporting beams 34 to support ingot supporting members 30 are connected to the lower part thereof. The guide sliding members 22, 23 fitted to a linear guide 42 are disposed to the supporting members 20. One end of a hydraulic cylinder 51 is mounted to the mold supporting member 21 and the mold 10 is connected to one end of the plate 21. The mold 10 is vertically and freely moved by such mechanism by which the liquid surface of the metal pool of the mold 10 can be freely moved in association with the drawing speed of the ingot. The fluctuation in the liquid level of the mold 10 is, therefore, obviated and the erosion of the formed mold is prevented.
