PURPOSE: To generate no short-circuit phenomen of a cell and perform stable generation for long hours by a method wherein, in a molten carbonate type fuel cell using a material containing nickel for an air electrode, nickel ions melted from the air electrode in an electrolyte is solid-soluted or compounded, and a mesh of an alloy, which contains a compound containing nickel or an element making a solid-molten substance is held between inside an electrolytic layer.
CONSTITUTION: By solid solving or compounding nickel ions melted from an air electrode 3 into an electrolyte 11, a sufficient amount for adsorbing nickel of 0.18 millimol per cell area of 1cm2 of fine metal mesh materials 12 of above 40 meshes which contain a compound containing nickel and any of elements forming a solid solution is carried in an electrolytic layer 1. Thereby, nickel ions are prevented from being reextracted as metal nickel inside the electrolyte so as to obtain a molten carbonate type fuel cell generating no short-circuit for a long term.
