Title:
MONITOR METHOD FOR OPTICAL COMMUNICATION LINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3411436
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor an optical fiber line with a distance which cannot be monitored by an OTDR(optical time domain reflection).
SOLUTION: Plural optical reflection elements P1-Pn are inserted to an optical fiber line 1 at a prescribed distance each. The optical reflection elements P1-Pn reflect only a signal of a specific wavelength by a prescribed quantity and the specific wavelength differs as wavelengths λ1-λn. The optical fiber line 1 up to the position of the optical reflection elements P1-Pn is monitored by sending the optical pulses of the wavelengths λ1-λn to the optical fiber line 1 and measuring the reflected light strength reflected in the optical reflection elements P1-Pn. Since the reflectance of the optical reflection elements P1-Pn is selected to be 100%, the line in excess of 200km is monitored.
