Abstract:
To obtain a soluble protein product of the heretofore unexpressed CTLA4 gene, to identify a natural ligand for CTLA4 that is involved in functional response of T cell and to regulate T cell response in vivo by using the soluble protein product to treat pathologic conditions. CTLA4 gene.
This in vitro method for regulating functional CTLA4-positive T cell interaction with a B7 positive cell comprises bringing the B7-positive cell into contact with a ligand for the B7 antigen in an effective amount to prevent the reaction of endogenous B7 antigen with CTLA4.
