To prevent a motor drive circuit from being damaged when commutator segments of a motor are short-circuited in a motor controller.
A motor controller 1 is provided with a motor 2, a motor driver IC3, a differential amplifier circuit 4, a high-pass filter 5, a comparator 6, and a main IC7. The motor 2 is a motor with brushes provided with a pair of brushes and a commutator including a plurality of commutator segments. The differential amplifier circuit 4 amplifies an I/O voltage difference of a pair of brushes of the motor 2 and outputs. The high-pass filter 5 outputs high frequency component of the output of the differential amplifier circuit 4. The comparator 6 binarizes the output of the high-pass filter 5 to high level and low level, and outputs. The main IC7 judges whether the commutator segments of the motor 2 are short-circuited based on the output of the comparator 6, and stops a drive of the motor 2 by the motor driver IC3 when judging the commutator segments of the motor 2 are short-circuited.
