PURPOSE: To improve reliability and durability by separating sealingly by means of a sealing means a first chamber provided with a detector from a second chamber in which the transmission elements of a motive power transmitting mechanism are engaged with each other.
CONSTITUTION: The cover 101a of a housing 101 is provided, in its inside, with an inside cylinder portion 101c whose lower end extends to the vicinity of the upper surface of a large hypoid gear 129, and the upper surface of the large hypoid gear 129 is made to be an annular plane 129a, and tight sealing is conducted by butting a seal 137 fitted to the lower end of the inside cylinder portion 101c against the plane 129a. As a result, on the outside of the inside cylinder portion 101c, a first chamber A in which a detector 113 is arranged and a second chamber B where fellow hypoid gears 129, 136 are meshed with each other are formed sealingly and in separation. As a result, the mixing of the lubrication oil of both chambers A, B is prevented, and the durability of the gears 126, 129 and the reliability of the detector 113 can be improved.
