To obtain an electric motor with which it is possible to shorten the circumferential length of a coil while preventing the collapse of a coil wound around an insulating tooth part.SOLUTION: The electric motor comprises a rotor and a stator. The stator includes a stator core, an insulating end plate and a coil. The insulating end plate includes a plurality of insulating tooth parts arranged on both end faces along the axial direction of the stator core and covering the a magnetic pole tooth of the stator core. At least one insulating tooth part of the insulating end plate includes a base part located opposite the stator core and a rib-shaped protrusion rising from the center of the base part along the width direction of the insulating tooth part and extending in the radial direction of the insulating end plate, with a coil wound around. The protrusion is inclined in a direction of becoming more distant from the stator core as it goes from the outer circumference of the insulating end plate toward the inner circumference. In a state where the coil is wound around the insulating tooth part, the coil is linearly extended between both sides of the base part along the width direction and the projecting end of the protrusion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 15
