To improve maintainability by decreasing footprints of a computer system comprising a plurality of independent computers supported in racks and making it easy to insert and extract interface cards etc.
A plurality of computers 18A, 18B and 18C are perpendicularly arranged on a chassis 14. A card 22A is connected to a back plane 36A in the rear of the chassis 14. This card 22A is equipped with a printed circuit board and an external connection bulk head, which is connected to the back plane while directed along the perpendicular. The length of the card 22A is arranged along the perpendicular to reduce the depth D of the computer system. The card 22A can horizontally be inserted and extracted and a cover of a housing need not be opened and closed when the card 22A is replaced.
