When communicating an exhaust merging passage with an intake distribution passage via the EGR cooler 6 and an EGR valve case 7, forming a cooler jacket 33 in the EGR cooler 6, forming a valve cooling water passage 31 in the EGR valve case 7, serially connecting the cooler jacket 33 and the valve cooling water passage 31 via a cooling water relay pipe 32, and passing engine cooling water through the cooler jacket 33 and the cooling water passage 31, the EGR cooler 6 and the EGR valve case 7 are arranged along an intake distribution passage wall 3, in the multi-cylinder engine with the EGR cooler 6 and the EGR valve case 7 arranged side-by-side.
